Orangeries design involves knowledge of oak strength, glazing, roof lanterns, flat roofs & aesthetics. Our design consultants will help you with these issues. Oak has great strength and this allows the construction of wide span Orangeries without the need for internal pillars or supports. The type of glass used is important, as this will affect thermal efficiency and your heating bills.

ROOF LANTERNS

Conservatories are almost all glass, while Orangeries have glazed sides, built on a brick or wood surround. Orangeries have a flat roof at the perimeter with single or multiple inset roof lanterns that allow the room to bathe in natural light. Internally, the ceiling can incorporate down-lighters, while externally attention must be paid to the quality of the flat roof material to avoid leaks.
