ORANGERIES CHECK LIST

The following are all important issues in the design & construction of orangeries.

Size: Don’t be over ambitious, if it is too large it could be expensive to heat.
Location: Heating is particularly important in North-facing orangeries.
Amount of Glass: Glass is great but remember privacy issues.
Type of Glass: Double-glazing is a must; self cleaning and tinted are other options.
Ventilation: Very important in a steamy kitchen.
Roof Lanterns: How many and positioning?
Heating: Plan ahead for under-floor heating.
Planning Permission: Allow time for application processing.
Environmental & Green Credentials: All the oak used for our orangeries comes from sustainable forest sources.
